Ruby Trollman is one of the main characters in Trollz. She starts the show as the leader of the BFFL, although according to other sources is actually "second-in-command".
Appearance
Ruby has dyed red hair that is styled to resemble a star (her natural hair colour is brown), tan skin and magenta eyes.
She wears a white off-the-shoulder, midriff-baring tank top with a green star design, blue jeans, and yellow and blue sneakers. She wears a black necklace with a red jewel, and a charm bracelet with a gold star. She has a red star gem.

Personality
Ruby likes when people read her diary, so she can create rumors about herself.[1]
Although Ruby likes to think she doesn't get embarrassed, Topaz Trollhopper brought up an some reason when Ruby had cast a dog barking spell on her and barked nonstop in class.[2]
Ruby is a hot head and is known to get angry and leaps before she looks since she is very head strong compared to the other BFFLs. Ruby is a mischief maker and a prankster, sometimes being a bad influence to her friends as she encourages them to join in. She also is incredibly bossy and likes things to go her way as seen in Ruby's Rules of Partying, as show also by the episode she thinks of herself as a cool individual and only she knows how to have fun at a party.

Friends
Like other members of the group, Ruby used to push her around and expected her to follow her lead. When she returned from summer camp in Best friends for life, she starts to get annoyed with Amethyst as she starts to stand up for herself, having gained some confidence at camp. Later Ruby mistakenly thinks Amethyst is flirting with Rock Trollhammer, and dismisses her from the BFFL group. The two make up in the end and Ruby states she is glad Amethyst is standing up for herself at last.
Love Interests
Ruby's levels for being impressed by a boy adding tickets to the ballet dance, buying diamonds and summer trips to the Trollhamas.[3]
Ruby thinks the cutest boy in Trollzopolis is Rock Trollhammer [4] as she said that her ideal guy "just needs to be hot." [5] The reason for her being attracted to him seems to be based on hiz athletic prowezz and strength and she appears to put his status as an athlete above all other traits. She even gets jealous when other Girlz flirt with him, such as Jade Trollberger or when she accidentally thinks Amethyst van der Troll did in Best Friends for Life. In the episode, she states Rock is her boyfriend and that they are indeed dating "he just doesn't know that."

Za-Za is Ruby's pet cat.

Spells
Ruby is an experienced spell caster and was the first to get a Spell Phone out of the Girlz. She is often a prankster who is not above using her magic to put Jade Trollberger in her place and encourages mischief among the BFFL due to finding it "fun". She also will defend her honor as well as that of others and dislikes others who cross her.
Ruby is a lot more reckless and inconsiderate to the consequences of misuse of magic then other BFFLs. She finds magic usage fun and is adapt at it being among the best of the BFFL group at using spells, getting jealous when new-spell-user Amethyst van der Troll had what she called "Beginners luck". However, she doesn't believe in playing unfair; in When Good Girlz Go Bad she was concerned about a spell nearly blowing up a student and told them they should have given the student the heads up. Despite all her pranks and misuse of magic, Ruby does not use it for evil and only uses it for fun. She is the most likely to be reckless and ignore precautions of the BFFL when it comes to magic; she is the least likely to be cruel with it.

History
Past
Ruby and the other BFFLs came together and became friends at the age of 4, they did everything together. At some point, Ruby dyed her hair, changing to from brown to red.
Present
Ruby and her friends are shown in Best Friends Forever having greeted Amethyst van der Troll after she returned from camp. The girls encourage her to cast a spell and after displaying "Beginners luck", Ruby storms off. Amethyst wonders what she did wrong but the others said that she didn't. Ruby then catches her with Rock Trollhammer and mistakenly thinks she is flirting with him. She is dismissed from the group. The two make up later.
Etymology
She is named after the gem of the same name.
Her surname of "Trollman" is a troll-based pun on the name "Trollmann". The name "Trollmann" means "magic man". Her name therefore means "Ruby Magic Man".
Trivia
- When told the average girl eats about 6 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime, Ruby was dismissive and said it was a worthy sacrifice for, "a perfectly red 'come hither' pucker," but she added "leave the lipstick to the big girls with strong stomachs."[7]
- Ruby's friends gave her the nickname "Rubes".[8]
- Ruby's temper is an example of the trope "fiery redhead."
- Ruby is a direct descendant of King Trollermagne the 3rd according to A Dragon's Tale as explained by Obsidian. Zirconia argues when she describes him as "wise and just" and recalls he wore a red robe that clashed with his pink tights, making him an alarming fashion faux pas. She also told her date for his reign was 10 years earlier then her claim.
