Amethyst van der Troll is the main protagonist of Trollz. She is a 14-year-old troll that lives in Trollzopolis and a member of the BFFL (Best Friends For Life) who attends Trollzopolis High. Although offical sources say she is the BFFLs leader, in the show, Amethyst is the seIf-proclaimed leader of the group and Ruby Trollman is the second-in-command of the group.
Appearance
Amethyst is a fair-skinned troll with tall wavy pink hair that has a long fringe swept to the right side. She has purple eyes, pink lip gloss, elf-like ears, thin eyebrows and a slim body.
Amethyst's outfit consists of a midriff-bearing lavender short-sleeved top with puffy sleeves, a white collar and white cuffs. She also has a heart-shaped gem in her belly button. She also wears a lavender skirt with a pink sash tied around it. She wears pink, heart-shaped earrings and an anklet with pink beads and an pink heart. She also wears and a lavender spell bead bracelet. Her shoes are pink with white straps. She also wears a lavender heart shaped hair clip in her hair.

Personality
Amethyst is a lot more awkward socially in comparison to other Trollz and is as awkward as Sapphire Trollzawa at times. At the start of the series, she was just coming out of her shell and was now wanting to do things she wanted to do and not just be forced to follow along with the other Girlz desires. She is kindhearted and never means ill of others, but often gets herself into awkward situations. She is often nervous and insecure, being less confident in herself then the rest of the group.
She can be a lot more emotional compared to the other girlz and often worries about things, and is the opposite of Onyx Von Trollenberg who usually remains calm and collective.
Relationships
Friends
Prior to the show, her friends would push her around. Ruby, being the group's leader, was no exception and expected Amethyst to do the same. After she changed in summer camp, the two fell out temporary with Ruby and was expelled from the BFFL over her "attempting to break the group up" and Rock Trollhammer. Ruby thought she was flirting with Rock who she called her 'boyfriend'. The two make up and Ruby notes she looks forward to Amethyst no longer being a push over.
Family
Amethyst is glad to have her as her ancient, the two already adored each other.
She generally cares about her mother.
Love Interests
She finds him attractive but notes his clumsiness makes him awkward to be around. Attempts to make him cooler in Five Spells Trouble end in disaster. Her attraction to him is most likely based on how awkward they both are in different ways.
Pets
Wa-Wa is Amethyst's pet dog.
Skills & Abilities
Spells
She begins the series a complete novice in terms of spell casting, having only just recently had her gemstone activate and is encouraged by the other BFFL to start using magic. She proved to have sound "Beginners luck" and was adapt at spell casting despite her lack of experience. In Five Spells Trouble she joined together with the others to cast a spell on Coal Trollwell to make him cooler and accidentally froze him.
Like other members of the BFFL, she often casts spells that pranks on others, especially after the other BFFLs have a habit of encouraging such behavior in each other, but truly seems to want to do good. Amethyst is often a lot more worried about the misuse of magic as it can have consequences.
Amethyst's Ancient is her grandmother.
History
Past
When Amethyst was a baby, a drop of magic amber was placed in her belly button right after she was born. The drop hardened and became a distinctive pink heart-shaped gem.
She became friends with Ruby Trollman, Sapphire Trollzawa, Topaz Trollhopper and Onyx Von Trollenberg when she was 4 years old and they have been friends for 10 years that they refer to themselves as the BFFL (Best Friends For Life) Club.
Present
She returns after summer camp in Best friends for life to re-join her friends. During the camp, she has a lot of personnel growth and returns more confident and bolder in herself. She still worried about her friends moving on without her. She begins to pull her own weight and no longer just wanted to do whatever the others wanted. Ruby saw this is a threat to their friendship and after mistakenly thinking Amethyst was hitting on Rock Trollhammer, expelled her from the BFFL. The two eventually made up at the end of the episode.
Etymology
She is named after the gem.
"Van Der" is part of a Dutch surname name meaning "from the" and translates into English as "of the" or just "of". Her name is therefore "Amethyst of the Troll" in English direct translation and would be read as implying her name to mean "Amethyst, from the Troll", with the implied meaning she is from the family or tribe known as "Troll".

- On Trollz.com, Amethyst's hairstyle is described as "Twin Curls" and costs $50.
- Amethyst is the very first character shown on screen outside of the introduction.
- Pink is normally a color associated with femininity and love. Her gem, which is a heart, also matches the latter.
